National ICT Strategy
Malta’s National ICT Strategy (2008-2010) was launched by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Communications in December 2007 under the heading ‘Malta: The Smart Island’. The strategy builds upon the achievements of the previous ICT Strategy 2004-2006.
The ICT Strategy 2004-2006 mapped out the country’s consolidation steps in the global ICT scenario, soon after the eMalta Strategy which, between 2001 and 2003, had put in place the foundations for a first-class Information Society and Economy.
Setting the vision of Malta as one of the top10 leading Information Societies by 2010, the ICT Strategy 2008-2010 is organised into a number of streams being:
- Strategic Stream 1: Delivering a next-generation ICT environment
- Strategic Stream 2: A connected society that bridges the last and the new miles
- Strategic Stream 3: Developing the potential for a smart workforce
- Strategic Stream 4: Putting the ‘e’ in everything
- Strategic Stream 5: Re-inventing Government
- Strategic Stream 6: Taking care of e-Business
- Strategic Stream 7: Developing a world-leading ICT industry
